In East Rutherford, NJ, the library is more than just a place to check out books — though, of course, it’s that too. The East Rutherford Memorial Library is also a community hub, offering a range of regular programming and special events alike, and bringing together community groups of all ages: from tots to children to teenagers to adults to seniors.
This January, the little ones and their caregivers can look forward to regularly-scheduled programming such as Tiny Tots Winter Storytime, held each Wednesday from 10:30-11:30am for tots aged 2 and 3, while toddlers aged 3-5 can participate in Story Time & Craft, held each Thursday from 10:30-11:15am. For the more grown-up set, there’s yoga, held each week in January from 12-1pm on Wednesdays or 10-11am on Saturdays, while guided meditation classes are held on Saturdays from 11:15am-12:15pm. Once February rolls around, the library will be offering Tai Chi as well. The library’s one-off events offer great opportunities for community members to gather as well. This past fall, the library offered Santa-themed events and a “Book Spine Poetry” contest for teens.
