On Sunday, August 31st, Woodbridge, NJ residents won’t be surprised to see hordes of runners speeding their way through the township. In fact, many residents will be running themselves. That’s because the day marks the 19th Annual Crossroads of New Jersey — a township-wide series of races bringing together runners of all ages and abilities.
Hosted by Mayor John E. McCormac, the Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and the Club at Woodbridge, the Crossroads of New Jersey kicks off at 7am at Woodbridge Town Hall with open registration. At 9am, the 5k and 10k races begin, giving Woodbridge runners a chance to show what they can do: the Joseph A. Ward Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the top male and female runner in each category. In addition, age category awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in each age bracket.
For the township’s youngest residents, the Lollipop Race is an opportunity to participate in the day’s activities. Kicking off at 10:45, this is a dedicated event for children up to age 10. The Lollipop Race makes winners out of all participants, each of whom receives a lollipop and a medal as he or she crosses the finish line.
