The weather might be erratic these days, but rest assured: spring is just around the corner. And with the changing of the seasons comes the 2011 season of Music on Main Street, a rocking spring concert series guaranteed to make you forget all about late-March snowfalls. This year’s line up includes famous musicians from the ’60s and beyond–reconnect with old favorites and discover a tune or two with this star-packed series.
Held at the United Methodist Church in Woodbridge, this year’s series starts on March 30th with an alt-rock and folk performance by John Doe and Jill Sobule. As April rolls around, look forward to Traffic guitarist and all-around rocker Dave Mason, coming to town on the 13th. Come May, performances are happening each and every Wednesday night: on the 4th, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds is flying on through; on the 11th, the Nu-Utopians will jam out to the songs of John Lennon; on the 18th, ’60s duo Chad and Jeremy are bringing back some old favorites; and on the 25th, Raul Malo of the Mavericks is belting some of his soulful medleys.
Don’t miss this opportunity to catch some truly accomplished musicians as they make their way through Middlesex County. Concerts are held at 7:30, with advanced tickets available at Woodbridge Town Hall (1 Main Street) or online. Advance ticket prices range from $22-$30.
(Please note: the May 4th concert will be held at Woodbridge Middle School, located at 525 Barron Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ.)
