Since opening its doors on May 30, 2009, the Woodbridge Artisan Guild (WAG) has been a destination spot for artists and art-lovers alike. Located at 353 Fulton Street in downtown Woodbridge, WAG is a co-operatively run art gallery, where local artists showcase sculpture, photography, painting, fabric jewelry, and everything in between.
This unique project is the brainchild of WAG President Glenn Murgacz. Last April, he and other members of Woodbridge”s Committee on the Arts conceived of WAG as a space for local artists to display their work, and for residents to enjoy culture right here in Woodbridge: a place fostering “art community, mutual support, cooperation, and education.” Artists looking to participate in the Guild contribute 12 hours per year of labor and can then exhibit and share their work. Meanwhile, other Woodbridge residents have an exciting new reason to go downtown and explore the artwork being produced within their very own community.
January 9th marked the opening of the gallery”s latest show, Winter Dreams, running through March 6, 2010. The Woodbridge Artisan Guild is open on Wednesdays from 6pm-9pm, Fridays from 7pm-9pm, and Saturdays from 9:30am-1pm.
