March marks Women’s History Month, an occasion to commemorate the unique accomplishments of women in US culture and history. In Middlesex County, New Jersey, Women’s History Month is being observed online this year, with children’s stories honoring exceptional women, hosted by the Arts Institute of Middlesex County with the Civil League of Greater New Brunswick.

On March 10th at 4pm, drop in on a reading of My Name is George: A Portrait by Jeanette Winter. This book tells the incredible story of artist Georgia O’Keeffe, from childhood to becoming an exceptional and revered painter, known for gorgeous paintings of enlarged flowers, New Mexico landscape, and more.

Later this month, the series will host a reading of Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, a fantasy story that brings in African American and women’s history, Firebird by ballet soloist Misty Copeland, and The Stuff of Stars by Marion Dane Bauer and illustrated by Ekua Holmes, which tells children about the universe and greater beyond.
