When residents gather at the Princeton Junction Firehouse in West Windsor, New Jersey, it’s not an emergency: for the past six months, the old firehouse has been home to the West Windsor Arts Center, a thriving artistic hub in Mercer County. Since 2002, the West Windsor Arts Council has been organizing arts events around the township in an effort to bring new culture and expression to the area. From a Summer Solstice Poetry open mic to the annual West Windsor Film Series, the Arts Council has introduced new visual arts and performance, highlighted talents already in the community, and brought residents together over shared appreciation for culture.

After eight years, the Firehouse finally opened as the official home to the West Windsor Arts Center this past September. Since then, the center has run classes and workshops, administered an in-house art gallery, and hosted a wide range of performances. In the coming weeks, visitors can look forward to a number of exciting events: on February 27th, there will be a screening of Glen Acres: A Story in Black and White, a documentary film by Diane Ciccone, along with commentary by the filmmaker. On March 6th, the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra will present “Romance From Austria to China,” a riveting musical performance. For more on upcoming events, review the Arts Center calendar.
