Since 1997, Union County has had a parade of its own each year on St. Patrick’s Day. On March 12th, residents will gather once more for the 15 Anniversary Union County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a family-oriented celebration in honor of all things Irish. After a mass and reception held at St. Patrick’s Church in Elizabeth, celebrants will head over to Morris Avenue to participate in what has become the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New Jersey, beginning at 1pm.
This year’s parade will kick off with flag-bearers waving Irish and American flags and include county officials, local community groups, school representatives, and more. Be sure to bring out your whole family: the parade will also feature a kids’ zone, located on Stuyvesant Avenue, just off of Morris Avenue.
The 2011 Union County St. Patrick’s Day parade will be dedicated to the New Jersey State Police Department in honor of their service to the state and larger community.
