As the days get shorter, we’re entering the darkest time of the year. And so, it’s no coincidence that this is the time of year when multiple faith traditions celebrate light. Here in the Garden State, townships light Christmas trees, Hanukkah menorahs, Kwanzaa candles and more — all to honor the diversity of cultures in our state, and to bring joy to communities.

In East Rutherford, look forward to the township’s annual tree lighting ceremony, to be held on Friday, November 29th at Borough Hall Park. The Englewood menorah lighting ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 22nd at 6pm at Bergen Performing Arts Center, located at 30 N. Van Brunt Street, while the Christmas tree lighting will be held at the same location on Saturday, December 7th at 7pm.

To discover when your township is holding a lighting, check your community’s website. No matter your culture or beliefs, you’re sure to enjoy the lights and decorations that bring life to this darkest time of year.
