For over 50 years, Metuchen was home to only one school: the Old Franklin School House. Founded in 1807, the building was retired when a new, bigger schoolhouse was constructed on Middlesex Avenue. But the Old Franklin School House hasn’t been forgotten.
Today, the one-room building serves as a historic site for the community, and a place to revisit some of the borough’s past. It also serves as home to Transformations Gallery, an art space that features works from emerging and established artists.
Over the next few months, explore the work of Cuban artist Enrique Zaldivar. Called “Unknown Landscapes,” the exhibit features 16 acrylic paintings that the artist has produced over the past year. The exhibit will be up until April 30, 2017, and a reception featuring live painting by the artist, live music and refreshments will be held this Saturday, February 18th from 7-9 pm at the gallery.
