In the 1980’s, the seminal Athens Georgia new-wave alternative rock band “The B52’s” offered listeners there own musical ode to crustaceans entitled “Rock Lobster” but for Woodbridge based jazz lovers located at our residences at Fox Hill Run, Forest View, Evergreen East, Evergreen Forest and Cloverleaf Gardens, check out the musical swing of the great jazz era! Head on down to Woodbridge High School to enjoy “The Jazz Lobsters Big Band” for Woodbridge’s annual Holiday Gala on Friday, 12/13 at 7:30pm.
Featuring guest vocalist Tony Corrao, the big band specializes in the timeless music of Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Quincy Jones and other sultans of swing as well as hip new arrangements showcasing everything from 40’s swing to hot latin and salsa. Remember, this is a big band show so expect to see what may amount to as many as five saxes, four trumpets, four trombones, and the kickin’ Lobster rhythm section along with special guests as well.
Whether you’re ready to Cakewalk, Charleston, Boogie-Woogie, or Lindy to the sounds of a big band, you won’t find it hard to keep your toes a tapping at this free event featuring traditional standards and holiday favorites.
