Whether making up or breaking up, the smooth sounds of the Duprees became a touchstone for New Jersey’s 1960’s romantic teenage music scene. Recollections of my parents driving sis and me down the shore to Belmar for a day on the beach and then Asbury Park for the rides at sunset, are punctuated by the Duprees mega-hit YOU BELONG TO ME blaring on our AM car-radio. Visions of exotic lands, pyramids along the Nile, sunsets on a tropic isle, leap into mind as their mellifluous voices lifted us into a family car chorus that twinned perfectly with the summer night ride back to Union county on the Garden State Parkway.

Like Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Bon Jovi and so many a great band, the Duprees are proud to be New Jersey native sons hailing from Jersey City where street corner doo wop groups made their summer stands.  Woodbridge based tenants at Fox Hill Run,  Forest ViewEvergreen EastEvergreen Forest and Cloverleaf Gardens are in for a treat as we emerge safely (masked and social distanced, of course) to the smells and sounds of summer when the Duprees deliver their first FREE outdoor summer concert of 2020 right here in Woodbridge!  The concert will take place outdoors at 7pm on Monday July 6 at 33 George Frederick Plaza. The concert had been originally scheduled for June 29th and given the current circumstances or inclement weather, it is advised to check first on the Duprees website by clicking here as to whether the show will go on as planned.
