With summer right around the corner, residents of central Jersey take the fun outdoors. And in Metuchen, that means live music — including jazz, folk, swing and more.

On the first Sunday of every month this season, music lovers can look forward to the Cornerstone Jazz Series, presented by the Metuchen Arts Council, and held from 3-5:15pm at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse. This month has already offered sounds from the Don Braden Quartet, while July will have Winard Harper & Jeli Posse, and August will bring the Westerhoff School of Music & Arts Jazz Faculty, featuring Radam Schwartz on organ.

If swing’s your thing, head to Metuchen Plaza on Saturday, July 13th at 7pm for live music from Swingadelic, “the Metropolitan Area’s greatest ‘Little Big Band.’” And get ready to move your feet, since free swing dance lessons will be on offer as well. As the summer continues, so will the music: on August 10th, the Plaza will hosting the Metuchen Rocks! Summer Concert Series, with indie music from The Vaughns and Dentist.
