Since 1998, the Monroe Township Cultural Arts Commission has brought music, art, literature, drama and dance to town. This summer, Monroe residents have a range of stellar entertainment to choose from, including musical theatre and concerts in the park.
From July 25th through August 3rd, the Monroe Township High School Performing Arts Center will be transformed into mid-century Buenos Aires, as the Mighty Oak Players’ production of “Evita” takes the stage. Telling the story of Eva Peron’s rise to the First Lady of Argentina using storytelling and song, the show features such classic numbers as, “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” made famous in the 1996 film version of Evita starring Madonna. Visit Monroe Cultural Arts Commission online to find showtimes and buy tickets.

Thursdays at 10pm through the end of the summer, the Open Grove Gazebo on the Lake in Thompson Park features concerts from favorite acts ranging from klezmer to jazz to rock and roll — and everything in between.
