The State Theatre NJ Regional Arts Centerhas brought exceptional performing arts and arts education to Central Jersey since it first opened its doors as “Reade’s State Theatre” in 1921. Originally showing vaudeville acts and silent films, the theatre has changed ownership, name and character over the years — but continues to deliver quality entertainment to the region.

This season, come out to sample the range of excellent performances offered at the State Theatre. On Saturday, November 16th, see “The Butterfly Lovers”, a renowned Shanghai Ballet production that brings together Chinese dancing and Western ballet in a beautiful love story.

More of a classic rock fan? On November 18th, ZZ Top will be onstage, playing old favorites like “Sharp Dressed Man”, “Cheap Sunglasses” and “Legs”.

The State Theatre even offers fare for the kids: on November 25th, student groups from Pre K to 3rd grade will watch delightful performances of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites, engaging Middlesex County’s young residents in all that the theatre and the world of the arts have to offer.

Located just three blocks from the New Brunswick train station, the State Theatre makes theatre accessible and convenient for residents throughout Central Jersey and beyond. This year, the theatre is celebrating 25 years since it reopened its doors in 1988 as a pillar once more of art and performance. Come out to see what’s in store — as the theatre declares, “the best is yet to come.”
