This past weekend brought St. Patrick’s Day parades to towns across New Jersey. Although the holiday officially falls on March 17th, many Garden State residents held early marches to observe the annual commemoration of Saint Patrick, Christianity in Ireland, and Irish culture in general.

Participants wore kilts and traditional garb, played the bagpipes and marched through the centers of towns, as revelers found themselves in seas of green clothing and four-leafed clovers.

In Woodbridge, this year’s parade was a boisterous day of family-friendly fun. Attendees came out to Woodbridge High School at 1 Samuel Lupo Place bright and early to see costumes marchers, decorated flags, streamers, tricked-out vehicles and more. The day was dedicated to emergency service workers in the township and included the addition of the Woodbridge Police Department to the procession.

For those who still haven’t had a chance to get in on the St. Patrick’s Day action, one more central Jersey parade awaits: the Union County Parade will be held on Saturday, March 16th, starting at 9am at St. Patrick’s Church, located at 215 Court Street. Come out and join in the Irish fun!
