How do you spell “designed for children”? Buchmuller Park is home to the Secaucus Little League. But it also has a handball court, shuffle board, a putting green, ping pong, and a regulation size ice skating and hockey rink.

For high school sports there is Kane Stadium, where baseball and football are played. Capacity is 2000 seats. Another sports area is Shetik Field, which is home to the varsity and junior varsity soccer teams. Sports lamps make nighttime play possible.

The Duck Pond is an environmental cleanup success story, having been cleaned in 1992. It’s now home to many types of waterfowl, and is a popular fishing site stocked with bass, catfish, sunfish, carp and perch by the N.J. Division of Fish & Game. There is a children’s fishing derby each spring.

For basketball, Clarendon School Playground is the place to go—they have two full courts there.

There is also a Swim Center in Secaucus that contains three pools, a diving pool and a water slide.

Laurel Hill Park offers an unusual feature: wetlands. Kayaks are available for rent and guided tours of the wetlands are offered daily during spring and summer.

Fountain Park has one of two Secaucus Gardens, featuring 20 raised beds. There is also a small fountain and an open area for ball throwing and flying kite.
