When the pleasant weather hits, some folks like to hang out in the park, go on long bike rides, or find new trails to hike. Others dream of days spent by the lake, fishing pole in hand, waiting for the next great catch. This weekend in Hudson County, members of the community will get a taste of those long lazy fishing trips with the Secaucus Annual Fishing Derby, held on Saturday, May 7th, 2011.

From 9am until noon, the area surrounding the Secaucus Duck Pond will be filled with veteran fishermen and -women and first-time anglers alike, as they gather to spend time with friends, compete for prizes, and munch away at delicious food–all while seeing which kinds of water-dwellers they can reel in. A great opportunity to gain exposure to the world of sportfishing, the Secaucus Fishing Derby invites participants of all ages to come on out and try their luck. Registration begins at 8am, so show up early and eager for the catches of the day.

The fishing derby will be held at the Duck Pond on Metro Way in Secaucus. BestRentNJ.com rental apartments located nearby includeXchange at Secaucus Junction and East Rutherford’s Liberty Terrace.
