On April 24th, more than 75,000 people visited Rutgers University for a springtime bonanza. For six hours, visitors learned about Rutgers, shared their projects, and discovered what having such an accomplished research institution in the community means for them.
At Piscataway’s Livingston Campus, spectators watched performances from university groups including a campus rock band, a student step group, and a traditional Chinese dance troupe. In addition, visitors learned nutrition tips, played epic board game tournaments, got crafty with strings and beads, gleaned investment advice, investigated global business and studied ancient calligraphy-all while meeting their neighbors and celebrating the power of a lively, creative community.
As the Livingston Campus continues to grow, Middlesex residents can look forward to more opportunities to engage with the University-by 2013, Rutgers plans to expand the Livingston campus, increasing enrollment from 1,900 to 3,200 students. For residents, this means the arrival of more resources and more opportunity to Piscataway.
