  1. Remember that difficult moments are temporary and will eventually pass.
  2. Savor the positive experiences.
  3. Focus on gratitude.
  4. Focus on what you are learning from your kids and all the ways in which they enrich your life.
  5. Know that a decrease in marital satisfaction is normal—and not your or your mate’s fault—but that there are many things you can do to increase satisfaction as well.
  6. Maintain a regular date night.
  7. Find the humor in the challenges.
  8. Be patient with yourself, your partner, and your kids.
  9. Have fun as a family.
  10. Maintain friendships with other families and stay close with your family (if these relationships are healthy).
