For nearly 128 years Turkey Trots have helped build the hearty appetites required by average Americans to consume 3,000-4,500 calories at their Thanksgiving tables. Turkey Trots and other Thanksgiving-themed races are now national holiday staples. It all started in 1896 when the YMCA held the first Buffalo Turkey Trot in Buffalo NY. Running on 5 miles of dirt roads, the winning time went to a Henry A. Allison who finished first place in that inaugural year in 31 minutes and 12 seconds.

Bestrentnj.com residents at Bayonne Bay have their own annual appetite building Bayonne Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run on Thursday November 28th. Join a throng of happy runners at your own speed in a beautiful county park on Thanksgiving morning for fun, prizes, gifts and more. By clicking here you’ll be taken to the Bayonne Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run website where you’ll find all the information you’ll need to to participate and register.

A healthy day and one in which a portion of the sales proceeds helps Bayonne’s own “Special Needs Sports Program.”  Who could be more thankful than that.
