In Perth Amboy, summer is a time for cultural festivals of all kinds. June brought the city’s annual Greek Festival By the Bay, the Perth Amboy Puerto Rican Festival and the Ukrainian Cultural and Heritage Festival, and September brings the Portuguese Folklore Festival. And this month, residents are invited to enjoy Perth Amboy’s Dominican Festival.
Held August 9th through 11st on the waterfront, this quarter-century-old annual event is held around the anniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Dominican Republic, which occurred on August 16th, 1863. The day will include musical performances, delicious food, rides, a beer garden and more. In previous years, attendees have enjoyed a range of cuisines from all over Latin America — including Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico and beyond.
