North Brunswick is proud to be home to a diverse population with a range of cultural experiences. Residents looking to celebrate and learn from the richness of heritage in the township will soon have the chance: on January 30th, 2016 from 10am-1pm, Agraj Seva Kendra, a central Jersey-based nonprofit whose mission is “to preserve and promote Asian Indian Culture and traditions and to promote diversity among individuals” will be partnering with the North Brunswick Township High School to present the township’s annual NBT India Republic Day Celebration. Held at the North Brunswick Township High School Commons, this interactive event includes games, educational exhibits, cultural performances, demonstrations by youth groups and other activities and gives young people in North Brunswick the chance to explore and learn about “governance, international cooperation, cultures of various nations and the role education plays in achieving peace and harmony within communities.” This year’s theme is “Revere Friendship,” and will mark the inauguration of a mentorship program for the community.
This celebration is one of two annual events hosted by the NBT India Day Committee. In 2014, the India Republic Day theme was “Teachers.” Last year, it was “Unity in Diversity.”
