For the past 43 years, the North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services has staged an annual community theatre musical — and this year is no different. This month, township theatergoers are encouraged to head over to North Brunswick Township High School for a community production of the crowd-pleasing favorite, “The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein.”
Originally a 1974 film spoofing the horror movies of the day, Young Frankenstein tells the story of Frankenstein’s grandson, a scientist struggling in his grandfather’s shadow. Adapted for the stage in 2007, Young Frankenstein features catchy songs and side-splitting gags that are sure to make for a memorable show.
This year’s community theatre production will be showing on February 27th and 28th, and March 1st at 8pm in the North Brunswick Township High School auditorium. Tickets cost $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors and children 12 and under, and can be purchased in advance at the North Brunswick Municipal Building on 710 Hermann Road between 8:30am and 4:00pm.
