Imagine: you’re running. It’s springtime. All around you, you see the faint shadows of other runners, all lit up by glow sticks, electroluminescent wire and LED lights. It’s a 5k race to remember, and it’s happening right in your hometown. On Thursday, May 21st, starting at 5:30pm, the City of Rahway is hosting Firefly Run — and residents and visitors alike can come together to make this dream-like image a reality.
So what exactly is Firefly Run? It’s a 5k night race open to all participants — walkers and runners alike. Participants are invited to dress in bright and creative costumes and compete for prizes in the Costume Contest. Lit up under the night sky, the runners create a striking visual effect — making for a unique racing experience. The race ends in a dancing after-party, complete with lasers, lit-up trees and more.
