During the last weekend of October, world-class cinema will be coming to a theater near you. For the past three years, New Jersey Independent South Asian Cinefest 2010 has been bringing socially-aware, consciousness-raising filmmaking from the subcontinent to Middlesex County. This year’s Festival will take place on October 29th & 30th at BIG Cinemas Movie City 8 in Edison, NJ and include 17 films exploring movies made by or about South Asian women.
The festival includes a combination of feature films, short films and documentaries, and offers audience-goers a range of thought-provoking content. From “Beyond Women’s Stereotypes,” an Indian documentary exploring gender stereotypes to “When Women Call the Shots,” an American documentary on women in Bollywood film production, plus features and shorts from Nepal, Bangladesh, the UK and more, these films are sure to intrigue and inspire.
Cinefest opens on Friday night at 8pm and runs from 12pm-11pm on Saturday. BestRentNJ.com rental apartments located near the theater include Oak Tree Village, Hidden Valley and Trafalgar.
