Across the state, pumpkins sit carved on stoops, homes lie covered in cobwebs and, this weekend, ghosts will roam the streets. No, it’s nothing to be afraid of: it’s Halloween weekend once more, and in Middlesex County that means everything from costume parades to pumpkin carving to halloween parties.
In Woodbridge Township, the Recreation Department has organized a host of seasonal events to get residents into a ghoulish spirit. On this year’s Halloween itinerary have been an outdoor screening of the early 90s family-favorite ghost film “Casper,” outdoor hay rides and pumpkin-painting. Still to look forward to are tonight’s stuff-your-own-scarecrow event, and, of course, the annual Woodbridge Halloween Parade. Meet at the Woodbridge Town Hall Parking Lot at 12pm on Saturday, October 29th in your scariest, silliest and most surprising Halloween best and see what feats of costume originality your fellow residents have conjured up.
Over in Metuchen, this year has brought a Halloween poster-painting contest for some of the youngest borough residents. On Sunday, October 30th, Metuchen will offer its own Halloween parade, presented by the Metuchen Recreation Commission and the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce: dress your youngsters in their favorite Halloween costumes and meet at 3pm at the Metuchen Senior Citizen Center. The first installment of a new annual tradition, this parade is sure to be a witchingly good time.
