Memorial Day. It’s the official kick-off to summer, marked by barbecues, camping trips, and a settling in of the warmth of the season ahead. In the midst of all this, however, it’s also a time for reflection: Memorial Day is an occasion to remember all the service people who died while serving in the United States armed forces.
As in other years, for this Memorial Day, townships across the Garden State are hosting parades of veterans, civil servants, floats, marching bands, sports leagues, and various community groups.
In Edison, the 53rd annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 24th starting at 2pm, and will depart from Walsh Avenue, travel along Amboy Avenue, and end on Brower Avenue. In Hillsborough, the parade will also be held on Sunday, beginning at 10:30am and traveling along New Amwell Road to Beekman Lane until the Municipal Building, culminating in a post-parade celebration. Old Bridge’s parade will be held on Monday, March 25th beginning at 9am at Memorial School at 11 Ely Avenue and concluding at Memorial Park, across the street from the Laurence Harbor Fire House.
