New Jersey offers some of the freshest and tastiest produce in the region. This month, head to Hillsborough to visit Duke Farms and learn more about the local food world and how you can take part. On March 9th, the Coach Barn at Duke Farms will be home to Discover Food: Explore, Experience, Engage, Empower, a “local conference exploring the slow food concept and food empowerment.”
This unique event brings together tasty samplings from local restaurants, panels from local food experts, and hands-on workshops teaching attendees how they can engage in local consumption practices. The program includes talks from slow food activist/author/restaurant-owner/chef Jim Weaver, along with local food educator/entrepreneur Melina Macall. Plus, Michael Cantania, Executive Director of Duke Farms, will be delivering opening remarks. Participating restaurants include Agricola Restaurant, Applegate Organic Meats, Basil Bandwagon, Beechtree Farms, Double Brook Farm, Dogwood Farms, Exo Protein Bars, Foodergies & Food Family Health, Fulper Farms, Lima Farms, Mallery’s Grazin’ Meats, Norz Hill Farm & Market, Rawfully Tempting, Shibumi Farms and Von Thun’s Country Farm Market.
