Like all of New Jersey, Somerset County has a rich and storied history. And this month, visitors and residents alike are invited to explore that history with the county’s 16th annual “Journey Through the Past,” to be held on Saturday, October 9th and Sunday, October 10th.

Travel back in time fifty to two hundred years as over twenty historic sites in Somerset open their doors and offer tours, exhibits, activities, scavenger hunts, and, in some cases, even actors dressed in historical garb. The “North County Tour” includes sites like the Jacobus Vanderveer House, located in Bedminster, Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead, located in Basking Ridge, and Mount Bethel Baptist Meeting House, located in Warren. Meanwhile, the “Central County Tour” includes locations like Abraham Staats House in South Bound Brook, offering an outdoor tent with recipe exchanges and, on Sunday, the “Crossroads of the American Revolution Meet and Greet.” Finally, the “South County Tour” includes locations in Princeton, Millstone, Somerset and Belle Meade, home to the Dirck Gulick House, offering tours, a short film, book sales and more.
