Since its founding in 1886, Johnson & Johnson has been one of America’s most beloved companies and brands. In 2008, it was even ranked as America’s most respected company by Barron’s Magazine. But for New Jersey residents, Johnson & Johnson is much more. A true Garden State institution, Johnson & Johnson is an incredible family success story and, today, one of the biggest employers in the state.
Johnson & Johnson was founded in New Brunswick, New Jersey by the Johnson brothers — including Robert Wood Johnson, whose name is attached to the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network, another important New Jersey institution. The brothers saw a need for antiseptic surgical dressings, and started a company that would spread public health awareness, make healthcare safer, and grow to include a huge range of products, services and ideas to “advance the health and well-being of people”.
