Take advantage of the beautiful fall weather in Secaucus, NJ. On Saturday, September 24th, head over to Laurel Hill County Park for the first ever Fishing Derby, to be held on the Hackensack River.
A new township tradition, the Fishing Derby offers plenty of ways to engage with the waterfront — whether that means a free eco-cruise, kayak/canoe trips along the river, paddle-boating, or, of course, fishing. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, smallest fish, and most number of fish — as well as a special prize for the best pirate. The day kicks off at 11am with opening ceremonies and concludes with an awards ceremony at 4:30pm.
Presented by local and national partners, the Fishing Derby is a fantastic way for residents of all ages to take advantage of the Laurel Hill Country Promenade. A beautiful new walkway that opened this past year, the promenade provides a new way for residents to enjoy the benefits of the local watershed.
