What marks autumn–is it trampling through crunchy leaves fallen from colorful trees? Or climbing around pumpkin patches and taking your loved ones apple picking? How about an evening hay ride, complete with songs by the campfire, roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate?

This fall, the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Department of Parks & Community Renewal present “2011 Hay Rides and Campfires,” an annual event which puts the fun back in fall: take in the scents and sounds of the season while enjoying the great outdoors at the Trailside Nature & Science Center in Mountainside. Complete with music, treats and the warmth of the campfire, this year’s hay rides have been running Friday nights since September 30th. Don”t miss your chance to take part in this community event–participate in one of this year’s remaining hay rides, coming up October 28th and November 4th.

To purchase tickets, contact the Trailside Nature & Science Center or the Union County Administration Building. Tickets are $5 for Union County residents and $10 for non-residents. Hay rides begin at 6:30pm.

The Trailside Nature & Science Center is located at 452 New Providence Road in the Borough of Mountainside. BestRentNJ.com rental apartments located near this location include Horla ApartmentsRoss ApartmentsPark Terrace 55+Grandway Apartments and Kings Manor.
