2020, as pretty much everybody in the world knows by now, is not a year like other years. And that means many of the cherished annual traditions we love to celebrate here in the Garden State are going to be a little — or a lot — different this year. And that goes for summer beach trips, too.
Yes, the Jersey Shore is mostly open this summer. But if you’re going to visit the beach, you’ll need to take extra precautions: from wearing a mask to staying in your household unit to making sure there’s sufficient social distance between you and your beach-going neighbors. According to infectious disease experts, if the beach you’re on is completely empty, you’re probably safe to remove your mask. But if not, your safest bet is to stay masked while you’re on dry land. Although New Jersey rates of COVID-19 are mostly under control, other parts of the country continue to see instances rise. To stay healthy, we’ll all need to stay vigilant.
