It’s that time of year again when the air is chilly and grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize. Candy lines the shelves of all the supermarkets while the colors orange and black are the new norm. Get into the Halloween spirit by visiting Fright Fest at Sixflags, which is a short drive from your Carteret, NJ rental.
This year, in addition to the normal haunted wanderings and rides, Fright Fest has four new shows: Dead Man’s Party, Zombie Bash, Medusa’s Survival Test and The Awakening.
At Dead Man’s Party, you are invited to join Dr. Fright in his seemingly innocent costume party. Surprisingly, there are plenty of ghosts and zombies in the crowd. Even more startling is their odd similarity to the missing townspeople. Are they really in costume?
Zombie Bash is one of the best dances you’ll be at all year. Please be mindful of stepping on fingers, ears and noses, with all the shaking, rattling, and rolling, they’ll need a hand, or two putting themselves back together.
Medusa’s Survival Test is not for the faint of heart. This high energy, audience participatory, humor-filled Halloween magic show will get your blood pumping.
At the Awakening you’re invited to join Dr. Fright again as he leads a funeral procession with his “creations” as they wind their way through the park paying their respects to the dead. Be careful, if Dr. Fright notices you among the crowd, the procession might be for you next year.
If you’ve made it out of the shows alive, try your hand at one of the many haunted mazes. Just remember, if you scream, no one will hear you.
