This year, the 4th of July is falling right in the middle of the week–but that doesn’t mean there won’t be  fun, fireworks and full-on celebratory spirit, as New Jersey commemorates our nation’s founding.

If you’re in Florham Park, head over to Emmet Field for a fun-filled day of activities. Starting with a 9am flag raising ceremony, the day includes a parade, family picnic, social garden and more–all climaxing with the 9pm fireworks ceremony. Florham Park is home to BestRentNJ.com rental apartments at Sun Valley.

If you’re in Monroe, home to Village at Stratford 55+, make sure to go to Thompson Park at 5pm for music, vendors and fireworks starting at dusk. In Elizabeth, home to Kings Manor, Lidgerwood Manor, Wilder Manor and others, fireworks celebrations will begin at 8:30pm at Veteran’s Memorial Waterfront Park.

Not in one of these places? Find out where there’s a firework celebration near you. This 4th of July, celebrate our nation’s revolutionary past.

On July 4th, 1776, the Continental Congress came together in Philadelphia to declare itsindependence from Great Britain. This marked an important moment in the American Revolution, as America legally separated from the British monarchy. Though resistance waged on for another seven years, after this “birth” of the United States little question remained about the Americans’ attachment to their liberty and independence.
