Off the heels of the Edna Newby International Film Festival, Metuchen’s annual summer film series, Central Jersey residents can look forward to even more highbrow screen time. This year’s New Jersey Film Festival will feature films selected from over 200 entrants to provide a thought-provoking series sure to intrigue and inspire.

The New Jersey Film Festival has been a New Brunswick staple since starting in a basement classroom at the hands of Albert Gabriel Nigrin in 1983. Presented by The Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center, this year’s festival will be held September 13th through November 2nd at the Ruth Adams Building and Voorhees Hall at Rutgers University – New Brunswick. This year, the festival will feature a range of independent and classic features, from Erik Canuel’s Barrymore, a portrait of legendary actor John Barrymore to the Dada/Surrealist Dreams that Money Can By, a 1946 Hans Richter film that “brings to life the dreams of seven people who find themselves in the office of a mind-reading psychiatrist.”

Admission costs $10 for the general public, $9 for student and seniors, and $8 for Rutgers Film Co-op/NJMAC Friends. BestRentNJ.com properties located closest to Rutgers – New Brunswick include Rivendell at Edison, Edison Village, Blueberry Village, Rivendell Village and Homestead Village.
