In 1886, three brothers started a company in order to manufacture and sell ready-to-use sterile surgical dressings. That company was Johnson & Johnson, and it was founded right here in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Over the next century, Johnson & Johnson would work hard to improve sanitation practices in hospitals, dramatically improving the safety of many medical procedures.
