What’s one of the best things about living in a Perth Amboy, NJ, apartment? Its proximity to New York City, hands down! What does New York City have? Oh, right… everything. But in this case, I’m talking about its theatre scene, specifically Broadway. The shows on the Great White Way are second to none this year, and if you know the location of the TKTS booths around the city, you stand a chance at scoring tickets to a great show at a great price. What’s playing this winter?

Old Favorites
Phantom of the Opera

Phantom is the longest-running show in Broadway history. The curtain first lifted on this show in late 1986, and it hasn’t stopped since. If you’ve never heard of it, introduce yourself to the story of the phantom of the Paris opera house.

Cats

Cats is a great show for the whole family. It, too, has had a long life on Broadway. Street cats gather once a year for the Jellicle Ball. It’s a time to tell stories, entertain each other, and listen to leader Old Deutronomy’s wisdom. But what happens this year at the Jellicle Ball is different than the rest.

Current Hits

Book of Mormon

The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, bring Book of Mormon to Broadway. The story follows to Mormon men on their mission trip to a rather unexpected location: Uganda. This show is hilarious, but not for the easily offended — again, brought to you as the same people as South Park.

Hamilton

A list of current Broadway shows would be incomplete without Hamilton. This is the hot ticket of the season. Hamilton is the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, from his life in the West Indies to his work in creating the constitution, and everything in between.

… and this list of shows is only the beginning. You couldn’t list them all – from Aladdin to Wicked to the Lion King to School of Rock, you’re bound to find a must-see show so close to your Perth Amboy, NJ, apartment.
