“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”

Martin Luther King Jr. once said these words. What better way for BestrentNJ.com Ewing Township residents at Ewing Town CenterRiver Links and Delaware Heights to commemorate this great man’s legacy on MLK Day than joining other dedicated individuals like yourself for a Day in Nature on January 17, 9am-12pm. Sponsored by non-profit The Friends of Princeton Open Space, volunteers will work under the guidance of Natural Resources and Stewardship Director, Anna Corichi, to identify and remove invasive plants species and aid in the installation of deer-exclusion caging around native tree and shrub saplings to protect them.

Volunteers will meet at the Mountain Lakes House in Princeton and then head over to the nature preserve to participate in the Riparian Restoration Project. Riparian areas play an important role in improving water quality by slowing down stormwater and filtering out pollutants before they enter the water system. They also provide a critical habitat for a diversity of birds, insects, and aquatic life. Your assistance will help to prep the site for the next planting phase, as well as protect this important resource.

All ages are welcome and children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent. To register for this event click on this link https://www.eventbrite.com/e/spend-mlk-day-in-nature-tickets-227261072987?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
