Each year, the beginning of September marks an exciting celebration of culture and diversity in Carteret. Now in its 37th year, the annual Ethnic Day event features entertainment, vendors, ethnic food and more. This year, Ethnic Day will take place on Saturday, September 8th in Carteret Park and include a live performance by American Idol star Taylor Hicks starting at 8pm, plus an epic firework show at 9:15pm.

In recent years, Ethnic Day has expanded into an extended affair, complete with activities for days before and after. Again this year, Ethnic Day is only one in a multi-day Carteret burst of fun.

Starting on September 6th, come out to Carteret Park for the beginning of Mayor Dan Reiman’s Charity Carnival, featuring rides, food, vendors and games. On Friday, September 7th, the park will turn into an outdoor movie theater with a 7:30pm screening of the Avengers. On Sunday, September 9th, the festivities continue with the Carteret Charity Car Show. For more information, visit Carteret online.

Most of the festivities will take place at Carteret Park, located off of Carteret Avenue. In addition, there will be some shuttle bus service available from Civic Center Park at 100 Cooke Avenue and Minue School at 83 Post Boulevard.
