Since the first Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970, the holiday has grown into an international movement celebrated by almost 200 countries. This year in Edison, the 2017 Annual Earth Day Celebration will take place on April 23rd from 9am to 3pm in Papaianni Park.
Look forward to a free outdoor sustainable event with activities like volunteer plantings, an eco-tour of the park, a bounce tent, site cleaning, on-site environmental testing, a rain barrel demonstration, a raffle and more. Those looking for even more outdoor engagement can also participate in the township’s 35th annual fishing derby, set to be held as part of this year’s Earth Day festivities at Lake Papaianni, which will be stocked with fish for the event.
As the weather turns to spring, there’s no better place to spend a sunny day than in the great outdoors. This Earth Day, head to Papaianni Park to participate in the fun.
