In this amazing country we live in, we can find some rich history that evolved not only from our battles, trials and travails but also from the kitchens, stovetops and ovens of yore.

For those Woodbridge residents at  Fox Hill RunForest ViewEvergreen EastEvergreen Forest and Cloverleaf Gardens curious to learn more about some of the recipes shared in America’s days gone by, we heartily recommend attending the Woodbridge Public Library’s lecture entitled EARLY NINETEENTH CENTURY COOKING HINTS AND HISTORY on November 10th @ 7pm.

This event will take place in-person at the Library and while registration is recommended by clicking here, it is not required for entry.

Presented by the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts prior to Thanksgiving, this program will certainly give attendees some great ideas to delight, nourish and educate holiday guests!  You’ll learn about 19th century cooking techniques through hands-on examination of cooking utensils and food-related artifacts from METC’s teaching collection. Participants are encouraged to reminisce about favorite recipes, and to share food and cooking memories!

For those eager to prepare and educate themselves prior to the program, we suggest visiting this page by clicking right here that compiles both 18th & 19th century cookbooks and recipes in one convenient online reference. Many of these cookbooks are free and found on Google Books!
