Throughout Mexico, the Day of the Dead (or “Dia de Muertos) is observed as a multi-day holiday that helps loved ones who have died as they move along on their spiritual journeys. But while it deals with heavy themes, the two-day celebration is often one of merriment, with singing, dancing, parades, parties, makeup, costumes and bright colors.
In Princeton, NJ this year, the annual Day of the Dead Celebration will be held around the Princeton Shopping Center courtyard on Saturday, November 3rd from 3 to 5pm, and will be free and open to the public. Look forward to strolling mariachi bands, sugar skull decorating, folk arts, face painting, crafts and more.
Hosted by the Arts Council of Princeton and the Princeton Shopping Center, this annual holiday is a great way to learn about another culture or celebrate your own.
