This weekend, take a trip to the past. On May 14th and 15th, Mercer County Park will become a sort of time machine, transporting intrepid visitors to a time long ago. Yes, it’s the West Windsor Renaissance Fair, and all are welcome to join in the jousting, arching, dancing and general merriment of the weekend.

Come one, come all: the site will open at 12pm on Friday, with festivities running until 5pm on Sunday. Access a world long past, complete with fencing, heavy fighting and thrown weapons demonstrations, arts and sciences showcases, vendors, performers, and more. Show your skills and see what talents lie in wait as you barter your wares and gain exposure to a world of handicrafts and showmanship. And of course, come prepared to learn a thing or two–from juggling to embroidery to metallurgy, there are plenty of 16th and 17th century skills just waiting to be explored.

The “faire” is put on by the “Barony of Carillion,” in association with the Society for Creative Anachronism, or SCA. The SCA is dedicated to celebrating the Middle Ages and Renaissance through reenactments and skill-sharing, with events thrown across the Mid-Atlantic area (or “East Kingdom”). For more information, read about the SCA here. And then put on your finest Renaissance wares and make your way to Mercer County Park this weekend!
