As a child of Holocaust survivors myself (commonly referred to as 2nd Genners) the specter of the rising tide of anti-semitic events is indeed an alarming up-tick.

History has shown that when Jew-hatred spreads, it serves as the canary in the coal mine for even greater unrest for the general population. One would think that the loss of 6,000,000 lives taken by the Nazi regime only 77 years ago would have taught the world a lesson to stay away from hatred toward ANY minority or religion. Sadly, we are seeing this is not the case.

Old Bridge residents at Woodhaven CommonsWoodhaven Meadows and Woodhaven Terrace are invited to attend a lecture at the Old Bridge Public Library at One Old Bridge Plaza on April 17 from 2pm-3:30 pm entitled “Child of the Holocaust.”

The lecture is being given by a child of Holocaust survivors, Dr. William Reszelbach. In September 1939, Hitler’s forces invaded Poland, where Dr. Reszelbach’s father lived with his former wife and children. On his way to get a haircut for the Jewish New Year, ‘Rosh Hashana’, the Nazis abducted him. He would go on to survive four concentration camps and meet Reszelbach’s mother at a displaced persons facility after the war in 1945. His mother survived by hiding in a Catholic neighbor’s home in Poland for about three years.

The couple moved to Brooklyn in 1949, and Reszelbach was born in 1950. Many other parents on the block also survived the horrific events of the Holocaust, he noted. “My father never laughed and he never cried,” Dr. Reszelbach explained, “because if you cried in Auschwitz, they beat you, and if you laughed, they killed you.”

Dr. William Reszelbach is a child of holocaust survivors. He is a former school teacher, chiropractor, businessman, certified hypnotherapist and lecturer. He has lectured on the holocaust at temples and libraries across the tri-state.
