Each year, Carteret is home to the annual Children’s Charity Ball. This event, hosted by Mayor Daniel J. Reiman, brings out supporters and local, county and state officials to raise funds and awareness for programs, initiatives and services that benefit children. Proceeds from the event go to the Mayor’s Children’s Charity Trust Fund, established in 2003.

This year’s event was hosted on Friday, June 21st at Ariana’s Grand in Woodbridge, and brought together over 300 guests. As in years past, the Mayor honored Carteret residents and supporters who have dedicated themselves to volunteerism and/or service to the community.

Honorees included Eleanor Sabol, who was presented with the Charity’s Volunteer Appreciation Award for her dedicated work with civic organizations and charities, including the Father Carey Columbiettes, the Elks of Carteret, and the Carteret Recreation Committee. Also awarded was Borough Councilman Joseph “Skippy” Sitarz, who was presented with the Civic Leadership Award. This year’s Organizational Leadership Award went to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #90, while the Corporate Philanthropy Award went to the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Bottling Group.

Carteret is proud of its its commitment to supporting its young people. Many thanks to the Carteret residents who set the bar high with their generosity, leadership and commitment to the community.
