If you’re a Carteret resident who likes sports and the outdoors, you’ll love the plans for improvement at Bishop Andrews Park in Carteret.
A few years back, the park got a $1.2 million makeover — complete with picnic tables, benches, pedestrian areas, paved pathways, new parking, a spray park, improved draining and more. And now, the park’s ready for its next upgrade: as of December, the park has been approved for funding to support the construction of a multi-purpose synthetic turf field to be used for baseball, softball, soccer and football. In addition, the basketball courts will be relocated, and new lighting, landscaping, fencing, bleachers, fountains, and shade trees have been proposed.
The improvements to Bishop Andrews will mark just the latest additions to a robust park system that includes facilities such as volleyball courts, bocce ball courts, a mini golf course, rock climbing, a fishing pier and more. Learn more about Carteret’s parks here.
