In spring 2019, the Avenel Performing Arts Center (APAC) opened, bringing a new and exciting cultural venue to central Jersey. Due to COVID-19, the establishment, like all indoor gathering spaces in the state and beyond, was temporarily closed down. But as of last month, it’s now open once more — and the show can go on.

APAC celebrated its reopening with performances of  “My Big Gay Italian Mid Life Crisis,” a comedy of errors that opened to sold out audiences. From there, it hosted “Assisted Living: The Musical,” an uproarious “vaudeville-esque romp”. On Friday, November 13th, look forward to the “Brothers From Other Mothers” comedy show, featuring JC Best and Greg Kritikos. And next month, the “Big Gay” series continues with “My Big Gay Italian Christmas,” on stage December 2nd-9th.

For the duration of the pandemic, the theater is taking precautions to ensure a safe theatergoing experience. That means that capacity is limited to 25%, and 6-foot distancing is required in lobbies. For more on how the theater is working to keep its patrons healthy, visit APAC online.
