May in the United States is officially Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, an opportunity to celebrate the heritage, traditions and culture of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in our country. And in Edison, NJ, this month is commemorated with the township’s annual Asian American Heritage Festival, held this year at the NJ Convention and Expo Center on Sunday, May 19th from 11am to 8pm.

Now in its fifth year, the festival offers a range of entertainment, food and shopping, from Bollywood celebrities to Asian cuisine and beyond. Last year’s event included dance performances, music, Asian news and media outlets and more, with offerings for and from the Garden State’s Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Filipino, Korean and Japanese populations. This year, attendees can look forward to a host of show-stopping performances plus wine tastings, vendors selling South Asian jewelry and clothing, free medical screenings, kids activities, dance lessons, a live DJ and much more.
