Summer is for the theater in Edison, NJ—the outdoor theater, that is. Ever since a group of volunteers came together with a vision for summer theater in 1963, Middlesex County Plays-in-the-Park have brought joy and entertainment to the over-one million audience members who have taken part in the magic.

This summer started off with the crowd pleasing Les Miserables. This classic musical, based on the 19th century French novel by Victor Hugo, sees the beloved lead character Jean Valjean on his journey from being a peasant who steals a loaf of bread to an inmate breaking parole to, finally, a hero on his path to redemption. Les Miserables had its last show for the season on July 6th.

Starting on July 17th, the plays will be changing speed—through July 27th, audiences will laugh up a storm at Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, the slapstick-silly musical based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This outrageous show brings tights, cows, knights, rabbits and more—and is sure to be an unforgettable night for all who attend.

August 7th-17th will bring the final play of the season: Xanadu, the wacky musical combining a Greek muse with 1980 California roller disco culture.

Plays show each evening at 8:30pm, Monday-Saturday. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, and free for children aged 12 and under.
